Configuring the Victron equipment

Inverter Setup

If you choose to use your inverter’s built in relay to switch the AC input, some additional setup is required. If you are using an external contactor, this step can be skipped and the  auxiliary output can be wired into your chosen contactor as per the included instructions.

This requires usage of a Victron Interface MK3-USB cable and the correct software for your inverter.

In order for the internal relay of the inverter to be used, 3 assistants need to be added to configure AUX2 to control the internal relay.

AUX2 is used, due to AUX1 having special properties when using ESS assistants. If neither AUX connection can be used on your inverter, then a contactor must be used to control the connection of power.

For multiple inverters, these steps must be repeated on each and wired up individually.

Note: you will not have power on AC Input 1 after completing this step, and it is highly recommended to set up your G100 CLS before completing this. To do so check the other guides first.

  1. Connect your computer to the inverter with the correct cable

  2. Wait for the connection to complete then navigate to the assistants page

  3. Add a new programmable relay assistant

  4. Follow the steps on screen

  5. Select “Use General Flag”

  6. Select “Set relay on”

  7. Select “Input signal (Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2 or Temperature sense input)”

  8. Do not select any Extra drive options

  9. Set the input signal to “when Auxiliary input 2 is open for 1 seconds.”

  10. The First assistant is complete.

  11. Next add another programmable relay

  12. Again follow the on screen steps

  13. Select “Use General Flag”

  14. Select “Set relay off”

  15. Select “Input signal (Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2 or Temperature sense input)”

  16. Do not select any Extra drive options

  17. Set the input signal to “when Auxiliary input 2 is closed for 1 seconds.”

  18. The second assistant is complete.

  19. Finally we need to add a general flag user assistant

  20. Follow the on screen steps

  21. Select “Use general flag to ignore AC input 1

  22. This is all that is needed for this assistant.

  23. You should now have 3 new assistants in your inverter

  24. Click the “Send settings” button

  25. Note the warning that the inverter will be switched off during the update

The inverter will now ignore AC input 1 unless there is a signal on AUX1 of your inverter. This means you might not have any power until the G100 CLS is set up on your system.
